Proud to be a Woman !? --Women’s Day
The statement posits that when seeking verbal expression, it is advisable to consult a male, yet when seeking effective action, it is preferable to consult a woman. Margaret Thatcher, born on October 13, 1925, was a British politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to Women play a pivotal role in shaping and constructing the fabric of society. Harriet Beecher, an American author and abolitionist, was a prominent figure in the 19th century. Stowe is a reference to Harriet Beecher Stowe, an American author and abolition International Women's Day (IWD), which was first referred to as International Working Women's Day, is observed annually on the 8th of March. The inaugural observance of Women's Day occurred in 1911. The inaugural commemoration of Women's Day took place on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. The resolution to commemorate International Working Women's Day was made during the second international congress of working women, which took place in Copenhagen in 1910. During the meeting, Clara Zetkin, the prominent figure leading the Women's Office for the Social Democratic Party in Germany, put out a proposition advocating for the establishment of an annual global observance known as Women's Day. This proposal aimed to mobilise support for a range of requests put forth by women across different nations. Zetkin's plan received unanimous approval, leading to its implementation in the subsequent year, specifically in 1911.
The origins of this movement may be traced back to the late 19th century, a period characterised by significant societal instability in industrialised nations. During this time, women began to actively protest against oppressive working conditions, inadequate remuneration, and gender-based inequalities prevalent in Western cultures. Additionally, this phenomenon occurred along with the increasing advocacy of women's suffrage in numerous nations. In the United States, National Women's Day was observed on the final Sunday of February until the year 1913. The pursuit of equitable remuneration and respectable working conditions emerged as prominent themes in numerous demonstrations led by women. In 1913, Russian women who were actively advocating for peace in the lead-up to World War I commemorated their inaugural International Women's Day (IWD) on the final Sunday of February. However, it was not until the year 1913 that a consensus was finally achieved, resulting in the International Women's Day being officially observed on the 8th of March.
TIn 1975, the United Nations formally recognised International Women's Year and concurrently granted official endorsement to International Women's Day (IWD), thereafter assuming responsibility for organising and supporting various events commemorating this occasion. The designated topic by the United Nations for International Women's Day in 2012 is "Empowering Women to Alleviate Hunger and Poverty." International Women's Day is widely observed in numerous nations as a significant day to commemorate and acknowledge the achievements of women. My understanding on the status of women in India: The inaugural Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, expressed the notion that the condition of women inside a nation serves as an indicator of its overall situation. Undoubtedly, upon scrutinising the condition of women in India, one is confronted with a disheartening and distressing state of affairs. It has been a century since that time. There is a significant amount of discourse, dialogue, scholarly gatherings, and academic events centred around the topics of Women's Empowerment and Women's Struggle. Gender bias, gender discrimination, and related phenomena have been and will continue to be prevalent.
On one side, women are currently engaging in several fields and achieving notable success. Undoubtedly, this achievement is a source of pride for women universally. The empowerment of women in India has undeniably been facilitated by education. Indeed, it is evident that complete literacy remains an unattained goal. A significant number of women in the fields of engineering, medicine, and other professional domains bear the entirety of the duty. I also hold great admiration for the courageous women throughout history. In India, there persist various concerns pertaining to the well-being of girls, encompassing matters such as child marriage, premature pregnancy, sexual misconduct, female infanticide, declining sex ratio, and maternal mortality resulting from inadequate nutrition. A significant proportion of Indian women suffer from anaemia. The phenomenon of escalating domestic violence against women is not a recent one. A significant number of women have elevated levels of depression, endure various forms of abuse, including sexual assault, and are subjected to further forms of mistreatment. Despite the implementation of various government initiatives such as the Integrated Child Development Scheme and Integrated Women Empowerment Programme, as well as the enactment of statutes like the Indecent Representation of Women's Act, Minimum Wages Act, Equal Remuneration Act, Pre-Natal Diagnostic Act, and Maternal Benefit Act, these efforts have proven ineffective due to insufficient implementation capabilities and inadequate financial support, among other factors. For the ten million female children who were tragically lost as a result of selective abortions. The sex ratio had a decline from 927 females per 1000 men in 2001 to 918 females per 1000 males in 2011. India exhibits one of the highest global rates of female infanticide, wherein women who lack the financial means to undergo prenatal screening resort to the killing of girl children after their delivery. One of the primary difficulties encountered by women pertains to the perception of themselves as a source of burden to their family, necessitating their expeditious transfer to a prospective spouse. Regrettably, there is widespread reporting on the topics of abortions, gendercide, and elevated infant mortality rates specifically affecting girls under the age of five. Concurrently, the government has made efforts to acknowledge and tackle these concerns.I apologise, but I am unable to assist without any text provided. Please provide the textNevertheless, the presence of prejudice based on gender, namely favouring male offspring, is evident and can be observed on a national scale. Based on a survey published by UNICEF, it has been observed that the literacy rate among females aged seven and above stands at 54 percent, whereas the corresponding number for boys is 75 percent. Females residing in the Northern states experience a comparatively disadvantaged situation, with a range of 33 to 50 percent. On a daily basis, newspapers feature a news piece pertaining to the issue of female feticide.
According to a report from Bangalore on April 9, 2012, a three-month-old infant girl is currently in critical condition as a result of suspected physical abuse inflicted by her father, purportedly due to his desire for a male child. The infant's cranium has sustained significant trauma, accompanied by evidence of bite marks distributed across multiple anatomical regions. The child is currently admitted to the intensive care unit. We express our sincere wishes for the prompt recovery of the young individual. In contrast, it is noteworthy that three acquaintances in my social circle have been fortunate enough to have female offspring. In contrast, according to the National Crime Records Bureau, rape has emerged as the crime with the most rapid growth rate in India, with a daily average of 50-60 newly recorded incidents. The daily news magazine consistently includes coverage of incidents related to the crime of rape.
The commemoration of Women's Day in India: Even in contemporary times, it remains ironic that Women's Day gala festivities continue to be organised, wherein prominent figures from the film industry are invited to offer speeches on topics related to women and empowerment. Various activities are organised during the event, including games, the ceremonial cutting of a cake, and the provision of a sumptuous lunch or dinner. As the event concludes, women are presented with gifts and gift certificates before returning to their respective homes. This phenomenon is prevalent in the majority of metropolitan areas and urban centres. Subsequently, what course of action should be taken? It is advisable to await the arrival of the subsequent year in order to witness the recurrence of a comparable event. Furthermore, it is worth noting that a growing number of young women in the workforce are opting for cohabitation arrangements. A significant proportion of divorce proceedings are initiated by women, and a similar trend is observed in the filing of cases under section 198 A, where women are the primary filers. What is the direction in which we are heading? As a female individual, I contemplate the question I pose to myself. To what extent are individuals actively engaged in providing assistance to women in distress and implementing measures to address concerns pertaining to women? An annual recurrence of inquiries of this nature is observed. Let us together initiate a paradigm shift in our approach and extend assistance to vulnerable women, so facilitating their empowerment. Let us rephrase the traditional adage "woman is the first enemy of woman" as "woman can be the most supportive ally of woman." Contemporary India necessitates the presence of female reformers, advocates for women's rights, and individuals dedicated to campaigning for the cause, with the aim of combating gender inequality, reinstating women's rights, and fostering a sense of pride among all women.
!!!HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY!!!
