Republic Day Celebration

Repubic Day-Its Significance!!!

Every Indian on this Earth collar up with Pride to be born as an Indian in this sacred soil@- these were the wrords on the dying lips of those brave soldiers and freedom fighters who could not see the librated India, yet fought to the core so that millions of Indians could breathe liberated Indian air, smell the fragrance of freedom struggle and touch the every noble soul in restoring peace and harmony within the country for ever.

The Republic Day of India memorializes the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26 January 1950. Although India obtained its independence on 15 August 1947 , it did not yet have a permanent constitution; instead, and the country was a Dominion, with George VI as head of state and Earl Mountbatten as Governor General. On 28 August 1947, the Drafting Committee was appointed to draft a permanent constitution, with Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar as chairman. While India's Independence Day celebrates its freedom from British Rule, the Republic Day celebrates the coming into force of its constitution.

The Republic Day is celebrated all over the country as well as all over the world by Indians with great pomp and shows the world that India is a Republic Country. In Delhi it is celebrated amidst great eagerness and delight.

A special parade is held on the day. Early in the morning people begin to assemble at Rajpath and other places to see the grand parade. The President of India takes the salute.A procession starts from Vijay Chowk. All the three wings of the armed forces take part in the parade. There is a display of tanks, big guns and other weapons of war; in fact the strength of the armed forces. Military bands play tunes. N.C.C. cadets and the police also participate in the parade. They are followed by tableau-representation from the different states. They depict the picture of the life and customs of the people of the respective states and the progress they have made after independence. Unity in diversity is adequately displayed. Folk dancers assemble in the Capital from states. The dancers sing and play on various instruments. Boys and girls of local colleges and schools march in procession and sing national song. There is a colourful fly-past by different types of aeroplanes. Rose petals are showered from air and a trail of saffron, white and green, the colours of the National Flag, is left behind. Balloons of tri-colour also float in the air.

I as an N.C.C Cadet have participated in the Parade and participated in RD-BLC camp in Delhi. A kind of zeal runs down from bottom of heart passing through every nerve making me feel proud of my country, its freedom struggle, independence, rich culture and heritage and above all called land of unity in diversity-Follower of Sanathana Dharma. I use to feel proud while wearing NCC uniform, polished shoes, Cap and the belt. Taking part in parade and feel of brave soldier would always make to do , to repay to my own mother land-My Bharath!

We as a family sat before D.D National channel in the morning to watch and listen to the speech by the President of India from Red Fort addressing the nation and the to watch the event of parade. Today I hardly see anyone watching DD national channel and most of the private channels are busy showcasing the skin and talking high on the achievements of the of popular cine star. Every show is filmy show.Talks and shows on cinema star goes on throughout the year. Even on National holiday too? Disgusting!!!

What is special on National Holidays? May be these channel should stop focusing on cinema and cinema and should capture the glimpse of the reality of India, it should focus on public health, great work done by common man and recognize and award them.

Have we all forgotten the great sacrifice done by our fighters for us to live in peace and liberated country? Are we assuring the same to our next generation? Are we first living and let living in harmony?-- Questions like these keep arising on every national holiday. And at the end of the I go to bed disheartened by not knowing the answer.
