Emptiness within

Emptiness within,
Need for feelings to fill in;
Long for those stretched arms,
That never harm.

Tears roll and roll by,
Words choked in the throat;
Hard to gulp or spit out,
Not reachable announces the modern mobile.

Not convinced by others to forget,
Longing to meet, see, touch and hear;
When loved one is not near,
Closing my palms and making fist.

Ears reacting to every hiss,
Door bells, phone bells crying alike;
Holding my breathe for a while,
Feel agitated yet fragile.

Who cares who is interested?
Life is disgusted;
Roses look pale, cuckoos weep,
Like whole world is fast asleep.

I am awake with ache,
With hope that is bleak;
To upheld self,
And assert oneself.

Tamasha is a traditional Marathi folk art form. It includes both singing and dancing forms. It is widely performed theatre groups within the state of Maharashtra, India. It is in fact a mobile theatre that goes to different regions of Maharashtra. The word ‘Tamasha’ is Persian origin meaning ‘to have fun or to play’. Today, this word is commonly used in Hindi, Marathi, Kannada and Urdu. Again, some have researched the origin of the word Tamasha to Turkish langaugeand has entered into urdu and finally borrowed from Urdu to Marathi. In Marathi the word Tamasha means 'A mixtures of specialized performances like dance, music, different enactements or roles by women or girls, participation of women, and singing lavanis'. Oggu Katha is a traditional folklore singing praising and narrating the stories of the Hindu God Mallana. Mallanna Katha which is performed by the Oggu Pujarulu (minstrels) to their patron community, the seven Kurumas / Gollas. Mallanna Katha is their caste myth, which narrates the exploits of Mallanna their caste hero. As the Mallanna Katha is narrated using a particular percussion instrument called as "Oggu" by "Oggu Pujarulu" it is popularly termed as Oggu Katha.  In other words, Oggu Katha is the style of narration, which belongs to a distinct genre with an admixture of song-speech-dance-sequence performed by 5 to 7 performers having a lead narrator within them. They also narrate stories on  Beerappa,  Yellamma, Pedaraasi Peddamma Katha.
