Good works are subjected to Test.
Many noble personalities have taken birth on this earth for noble cause. Right from Krishna to Crist were subjected to controversy. Any initiation is taken shall become a subject of controversy highlighting the negative impact.
India has given birth, raised many holy persons like Shiridi Sai baba, Baba Garib Nawaz of Ajmer, Gulbarga Durga, Shree Baba sami Dhaam, Satya Sai baba and many. Every state, every district is blessed with both genuine and fake babas.
Well demise of much popular spiritual guru Bhagwan Shri Satya Sai Baba has not only led Indians to mourn but whole world too. Talk of his great works in the Ananthpur district and Tamil nadu on one side, net successor on the other and the trust and who would look after it and many more hidden truths.
Sathya Sai Baba on Novemeber 23, 1926 in Puttaparthi. His childhood name was Sathyanarayana Raju was a popular spiritual guru, social figure and educator.
For many he was a described as an Avatarapurusha, godman, spiritual teacher and miracle worker. Miracles done by Baba right from free flow of Vibhuti (Holy Ash), Titan watches, branded chocolates, gold rings and chains and many more wonders that has been a talk of the world and controversy too. Many also beleive and consider him as the reincarnation of Shiridi Sai Baba.
It is not to argue whether he was a god or a demi god or a magician-Yes he has inspired and influenced many to take up social service, community development, educating and led many in the spiritual path.
Sathya Sai Baba through his trust and organisation has supported for free education and has also started educational institutions, hospitals, and other charitable works both in India and abroad.
Amazing is right from common man to celebrities, public personalities, politicians, sports personalities and huge foreigners are his adherent followers and devotees.
Following one of his discourse On 11/8/2001, Sathya Sai Baba (SSB) held a discourse (published in Sanathana Sarathi, September 2001) where he detailed the running costs of the two hospitals, the colleges etc. and how much investment is needed to cover these. This sum - amounting to the interest from 600 crores of rupees (about $150 mill), is perhaps surprisingly little. Half the interest goes to the Bangalore hospital, 2/6th to the Puttaparthi hospital and 1/6th to all the educational institutions together. Sai Baba asks rhetorically, "Wherefrom does it all come?" And adds so self-deprecatingly, "However, I am giving it". This means he does have the money to give, and it is well-known that it is unearned income given to him as donations! It is also used for his direct benefit... many apartments, cars, chartered airplanes and massiver and costly birthday celebrations etc".
Through his speeches and writings, Sathya Sai Baba has offered a veritable ocean of knowledge and guidance on all aspects of spiritual, religious, and value-oriented living. He has often repeated that it is not necessary to drink the whole ocean to know its taste, that it is not necessary to read all scriptures to live a life of joy, peace, and love. It is enough to put into practice one aspect of spiritual teaching.
Good work done by a commoner is also under the test of controversy and great men, demi gods or god man's are no exception.
Let the social service and community work be taken by commoners to as social responsibility and reach the poor and uplift the down trodden. As somebody rightly said it is the common man who gains world recognition for the good work.
"May Baba's soul rest in peace"
