"Mava Jiva Mava Aasti"-Puppet Play on Health Awareness for Gonds Tribes, 
by Gonds Tribe in Gondi Dialect


A puppet play was performed in Gondi Dialect on August 15, 2016 at  Police Parade Ground, Adilabad. This was an experiment highlighting tribal health issues,  rigid superstitious believes and practices and services for the tribes by Integrated Tribal Development Agnecy-ITDA, Utnoor, Adilabad.

An attempt made to present the same in Gondi dialect by Gond Tribe youth of Adilabad, Telangana

Tamasha is a traditional Marathi folk art form. It includes both singing and dancing forms. It is widely performed theatre groups within the state of Maharashtra, India. It is in fact a mobile theatre that goes to different regions of Maharashtra. The word ‘Tamasha’ is Persian origin meaning ‘to have fun or to play’. Today, this word is commonly used in Hindi, Marathi, Kannada and Urdu. Again, some have researched the origin of the word Tamasha to Turkish langaugeand has entered into urdu and finally borrowed from Urdu to Marathi. In Marathi the word Tamasha means 'A mixtures of specialized performances like dance, music, different enactements or roles by women or girls, participation of women, and singing lavanis'. Oggu Katha - Oral Storytelling Theatrical Performance of Telangana

Oggu Katha is a traditional folklore singing praising and narrating the stories of the Hindu God Mallana. Mallanna Katha which is performed by the Oggu Pujarulu (minstrels) to their patron community, the seven Kurumas / Gollas. Mallanna Katha is their caste myth, which narrates the exploits of Mallanna their caste hero. As the Mallanna Katha is narrated using a particular percussion instrument called as "Oggu" by "Oggu Pujarulu" it is popularly termed as Oggu Katha.  In other words, Oggu Katha is the style of narration, which belongs to a distinct genre with an admixture of song-speech-dance-sequence performed by 5 to 7 performers having a lead narrator within them. They also narrate stories on  Beerappa,  Yellamma, Pedaraasi Peddamma Katha.
