Navaratri- Art exhibition and Reunion time for women

As there is a saying in Tamil ---"ANGALLAKKU ORU NAAL SHIVARATHRI, PENGALLAKKU OMBODU NAAL NAVARATHRI". Translation: for men it only one day called Shivarathri for whereas for women it is nine days called  Navarathri.

 I wait for Navaratri to come. To celebrate Dolls Festival in my house. This is the only time when I can call my friends, relatives and near and dear one’s home. This again is the auspicious time for Pujas and celebrations. I look Navaratri the period for Women get together with a purpose. It is the time for women to undergo or give  counselling sessions.


The prevalent of the joint family system in India did have a lot of advantages over disadvantages. However, women had little scope to speak or share with fellow women of the same family. Usually, women were not encouraged to speak loud or share with Mother-in-laws or Sisters-in-laws.  Either they took some help from Co-sisters or had to depend upon biological mothers for  remedial service or advice. It was this during Navarathri, women could speak out, share personal problems, issues, exhibit talents like singing, dancing, art and craft work.

Dakkebali -Sri Khadgeshwari Brahmasthana, Padubidre

  Dakkebali is a form of snake worship also known as Nagaradhane. Dakkebali ritual is practiced in the town of Padubidri in the Udupi district, Karnataka, India. Padubidre Brahmastana as it is known as a place of Shakti worship in Parashurama Kshetra located on the west coast of Southern India in Tulunadu of Karnataka State. The festival is held once two years. This pooja is performed for Naga, Bramha, Raktheshwari, Nandikonna, Haygulli, Kshetrapala, Bagilu Bobbarya, Motukalu Bobbarya, and Yakshi. The festival starts from the Makara maasa (normally 14th January) and continues till the end of Meena maasa i.e., the 2nd week of March. Panduga Sayanna-The Robinhood of Telangana
