Today we come across two popular words ‘Globalisation’ and ‘Recession’. It sounds abstract, yet able to understand with in one’s limitation and unable to know in fullest length. You call it as universal language or global language or world language ---- it is one and the same i.e., our English language.

It is common to see people speaking more often in English than in one’s own mother tongue or native language. English is just not for communicating, but today it is seen as opening doors in to the world in various fields. English language is means to economic progress and as an expansion of international trading and understanding.

Before one could realize or think about approximately how many billion people in the world speak English; innumerous studies in this regard is on and one of the studies says “English is the future generation language”. According to researcher David Graddol, around two billion people will be speaking or learning English within a decade.
‘Air is every where’ a science teacher explains to make us feel and experience it. Today, it is ‘English is every where’. Millions run around English schools, institutes and experts to learn, equip with basic communication skills.

Economists say English is the language of market economy and international language.
More so, it the language of computers and internet. All the fields today require the knowledge of basic communicative English if not hi-fi English.

Certain fields and professions and job opportunities reserves and makes it compulsory to speak and understand English. The political power growth in the west has promoted English to the expand in all spheres making it universal language of today’s world.
The utility of this language is enormous right from schooling to corporate world. Be it science and technology, printing and publishing unit, business sector, trading and marketing, commerce or computers. People are equipping themselves either with Business English or with Functional English.

Well, language experts reveal the other side of the truth. As per “the Graddol report “spread of English... will lead to serious economic and political disadvantages in the future.... A future in which monolingual English graduates face bleak economic prospects as qualified multilingual young people prove to have a competitive advantage in global companies and organizations”. Still others go to the extent of native, regional ‘language death’ and minority languages and dialects will sooner be unheard, or metamorphosis will take place.

With the opening of free trading system and liberalization of financial market, necessity of a common and easily communicable language gave way to English to become standard trading or business language. It is just not exchanges of market goods and commodity but also ones own culture. This means that along with production, transportation, and trade also cultural goods such as art, music, fashion, lifestyle, communication, www.com-World Wide Web and English language is globalised.
