Puppet Play for National Domestic Workers Movement- at Ravindra Bharathi 0n March 6, 2010

 



The Puppet Play held on March 6, 2010 at Ravindra Bharathi was organized by the National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) in Hyderabad, which is a local branch of NDWM India. NDWM is a non-governmental organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of domestic workers and domestic child laborers. During the commemoration of the international NDWN Silver Jubilee and Women's Day Celebration on March 6, 2010, at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad, esteemed Chief Guests Sri Manikya Varaprasad Reddy, Minister for School Education, and Sri R.Venkat Reddy, Minister for Labour and Employment, were in attendance. The esteemed individuals in attendance include Mrs. Christine Lazares, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), and Sri Srineevasalu, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Commissioner of Labour. Additionally, there are several special invitees and distinguished visitors present. In this instance, a group of four individuals employed as domestic workers underwent a three-day training program from March 3-5, 2010. The instruction focused on several aspects of puppetry, including the concepts of puppet play, scripting, dialogue writing, dialogue delivery, and puppet manipulation. The central focus of the discussion revolved around the enhancement of the unionization efforts among domestic workers. The theatrical production also emphasized the various forms of abuse and exploitation, including verbal, physical, and sexual mistreatment, experienced by domestic employees inside their workplace. It underscored the necessity for the implementation of welfare board programs, Social Security measures, as well as the provision of paid holidays on Sundays and other festival days.
